The Lüneburger Zeitung has extended the ProcSet Workflow Solution, which has been in use since 2003, with the RIP functionality of the Adobe PDF Print Engine. This now enables the separated TIFFG4 output of the final PDF pages within the proven solution. This extension is an ideal match for the long integrated components Adobe PDF Library and Adobe Normalizer. The ProcSet Workflow Solution can thus also be used as an excellent output management system.
For Herbert Baumeister, technical director of the Lüneburger Landeszeitung, controlling the output quality is a top priority.
Adobe’s leading RIP technology for high-resolution output of PDF files is therefore his first choice. The RIP process, the soft proofing and thus the final page inspection, takes place at the publishing house. The generated TIFFG4 files are then forwarded to Sternsche Druckerei for platesetting.
The Adobe PDF Print Engine supports color management based on ICC and DeviceLink profiles and can output transparencies directly in the target resolution. This enables a completely output-neutral PDF workflow that requires neither upstream color space conversions nor transparency flattening.
